For the select few quality treadmills that come in under $1,000, the Horizon T92 Treadmill is right there with the best. There are some good deals, and this treadmill is one of them. The Horizon T92 comes with a 2.25 CHP motor, which can tolerate lots of use from power walkers and light joggers.

One thing we did notice however was the weight limit. Even though the manufacturer states that this machine can handle up to 325 pounds, it probably wouldn’t stand up to that much weight for long. We would recommend a more expensive, heavier treadmill for users above 230 pounds.

A nice characteristic about this treadmill is that it comes with 13 workout programsm, which allows you to vary your workouts. That’s quite a choice of programs for a treadmill in this category. With so much variety, you can constantly switch up your routine and never become bored.

TTR Recommendation

With a price tag of just $799, this treadmill still offers some nice features you wouldn’t normally find in this price category. The Horizon T92 offers their COMFORTselect™ adjustable cushioning for a softer feeling when you run which is nice on your knees. It also offers a wide deck and a durable, 2-ply belt with 20″ x 55″ workout space. Also, for your convenience there’s a speakers and MP3 input, heart rate grips, and cooling fan. Those are things you don’t think about when buying a treadmill but come in handy when you’re in the middle of a workout.

If you’re looking for a treadmill for walking or jogging this is a great treadmill for you. The 2.25 CHP motor is ideal for those types of needs and it comes with lifetime warranty. With a price tag of $799 and a lifetime warranty, that’s pretty tough to beat.

The Horizon T901 falls into Horizon’s mid-range treadmills and compared to most mid-range treadmills out there this one stacks up pretty well. TTR Review

After the initial walk around we could already tell that the Horizon T901 treadmill was a good looking treadmill and the treadmill console was full of features and gadgets. If you’ve been researching Horizon treadmills this treadmill is very similar to the Horizon T1201 Treadmill but is a bit higher in price.

One of the big differences between the two treadmills is the motor. The Horizon T901 treadmill offers a 2.25 CHP motor with a lifetime warranty of course. The power of the treadmill motor is more then adequate enough for walkers, joggers and moderate runners. Also, if you’re a bit taller you may feel like the running deck length is a bit shorter then the T1201. The Horizon T901 offers a 20″X55″ running surface, compared to the 20″x60″ you get with the T1201.

The Horizon T901 also offers a TriFlex™ cushioning system that provides the right mix of shock absorption and support. This is a big feature because most treadmill buyers like to have that sturdy feeling when running on the treadmill.

Lastly, Horizon has made a big breakthrough with integrating your iPod into your treadmill workouts. This treadmill offers a one-of-a-kind treadmill “holster” that charges and controls your iPod!

The T901 makes it easier to push to a new fitness goal. An iPod® dock charges as it plays your workout play list, while the wider speed and incline range lets you take your workout to new levels.

TTR Recommedation

We know the the T901 has all the features and warranty to back itself up but does it really perform when used for its sole purpose? Absolutely. Overall this treadmill is perfectly priced and offers more then most mid-range treadmills offer. With a motor that offers plently of horsepower, a sturdy running deck and a juiced up iPod what else do you need? If you’re looking for a treadmill under $1,000, the Horizon T901 Treadmill might be just what you’re looking for.

Horizon T93 Treadmill

There’s a lot of quality variation in the $1,000-$1,500 price range. You can find some real junk—and likewise you can find some real bargains. The Horizon T93 Treadmill falls into the bargain category. The T93 is one of the higher-end models from Horizon Fitness and the quality shows in both form and function.

The Horizon T93 is wonderful choice for any beginning to intermediate runner. With a 2.5 continuous-duty HP motor, the T93 will provide plenty of juice for both walking and light running. And the 20″ x 55″ running surface is large enough to allow for natural strides, while the 2-ply design ensures the belt will last.

Another nice feature is the COMFORTselect™ adjustable cushioning system. This feature allows the user to select a cushioning range that’s appropriate for walking, running or anything in between. Shock absorption is key in reducing stress on joints and overall fatigue when running, so it’s important to have a feature like this no matter what treadmill you decide on.

While you’re running, you can keep track of your progress via a well-planned, easy-to-use console. The LCD display provides user feedback including calories burned, heart rate and more. Speaking of heart rate, one thing we didn’t like about the Horizon T93 treadmill was the lack of a wireless pulse monitor, but considering the price range it’s not a huge surprise.

Other fun features include a built-in iPod dock that recharges your MP3 player while sending music through a pair of integrated speakers, a console-mounted vortex fan and 14 pre-programmed workouts to help keep your exercise routine fresh.

TTR Recommendation

We really like the Horizon brand overall and the T93 is no exception. Solid features like a 2.5 continuous-duty HP motor, full 12 MPH speed capability, 12% incline range and a large running surface make the Horizon T93 treadmill a good buy at $1,099. Keep in mind the warranty on the T93 is lifetime on the frame and motor, with one-year coverage on everything else. So if you plan to keep this treadmill for a while, Horizon offers extended warranties for up to an additional 2-years.

The Horizon T1201 Treadmill Review

We’ve reviewed Horizon Treadmills in the past and found that Horizon Fitness makes quality treadmills. We think Horizon treadmills have proven to be well worth their money (See the Horizon LS780T Treadmill Review) and they also offer a reputable lifetime warranty. With that being said we were excited to have a chance to review Horizon’s top of the line product, the Horizon T1201 Treadmill.

As we began our review of the Horizon T1201, we were sure to keep in mind that the this particular treadmill was one of their top products, so we wanted our test runner to push it to the max. We started off by doing a quick walk around of the T1201 treadmill. The frame was solid and the running deck looked like it would provide a solid running surface. We had the runner hop on to begin to test the performance of the treadmill. The Horizon T1201 Treadmill comes with 7 workout programs but for the test we had the test runner move the speed and incline up and down throughout the workout. The running belt is powered by a 2.5 CHP motor which was adequate to enough to provide a consistent workout platform for our test runner.

The console on the Horizon T1201 has loads of features and the look of it is very easy on the eyes. The Horizon T1201 Treadmill offers something new that other treadmills aren’t offering on their consoles. If you look closely at the picture of the console, you can see a perfectly designed holder for you iPod® and on top of that just below it are the controls to navigate your iPod®. To us, this seemed like a great feature for any potential treadmill buyer. Not only does it have the ability to hold your iPod® but you can also control it with the treadmill controls. Now, that you’ve got your iPod® squared away the Horizon T1201 treadmill also has built-in speakers for you to hear crystal clear music.

TTR Recommendation

We’ll give it to Horizon again, they have designed another quality treadmill. We like the fact that the Horizon T1201 comes with a lifetime warranty because that tells us they know this treadmill will last. We also liked the moderate price tag—at $1,299 the Horizon T1201 provides a great workout without breaking the bank.

I have to admit it. When we first brought this treadmill into the shop to look it over I thought the Horizon Evolve SG was going to be less than stellar. At at price point under $600, quality treadmills are hard to come by. But this little machine proved me wrong in test after test.

The first thing you’ll notice about the Horizon Evolve SG is that it folds vertically and horizontally—that’s a huge advantage for those of us with limited space. Vertical folding treadmills are nothing new, but with the horizontal “flat-folding” capability, we had no trouble storing this treadmill under a typical queen-size bed.

At 1.5 continuous-duty HP and a top speed of 6 MPH, the Horizon Evolve SG will never be a good fit for serious runners or users heavier than 250-lbs. But we would classify this as a great starter treadmill for people that simply want to walk a couple of times per week.

Another advantage you get with the Horizon Evolve SG is that it comes pre-assembled. Some people just don’t have the ability or desire to assemble a complex piece of machinery like a treadmill. For those folks, we highly recommend the EvolveSG.

Ok, ok…it’s not all sunshine and roses. One of the things we didn’t like were the integrated speakers. Simply put, they’re crappy. The sound quality is similar to that of a Speak N Spell. Other cons include a fairly limited warranty of 3 years on the motor and 90-days parts and labor and no cushioning on the belt.

TTR Recommendation

In this price range, the Horizon Evolve SG Treadmill is hard to beat. It’s compact, lightweight and comes pre-assembled. We would happily recommend the Horizon Evolve SG to anyone looking for a quality treadmill capable of providing a good walking or light jogging-type workout. There are a couple of drawbacks including the built-in speakers and the abbreviated warranty, but overall the Horizon Evolve SG is a wonderfully capable treadmill for just under $600.

TTR Review

The Horizon LS780T Treadmill has to be a front runner when it comes to this price range. Normally, when you cut down on price with a treadmill, you really notice it in the quality and performance of the treadmill. But for under $1,000 this Horizon Treadmill comes with some great features.

The first thing we noticed was how stable it felt at a light jog…more so than many other treadmills in this price range. We then raised the incline to see if the running surface felt comfortable on a tilt. Again the machine felt stable, but the length of the belt was a little short so it felt like we had to be cautious with our steps.

Horizon LS780T Treadmill – $699

One thing we really liked was the cushioning system Horizon refers to as the “ADR2™ Variable Cushioning System” (See Picture Below). The feeling of running on a smooth surface seemed like we could do a longer workout at that pace.

TTR Recommendation

The Horizon LS780T Treadmill is priced at $699. Overall the treadmill felt stable with great cushioning. When buying a treadmill at this price you need to be sure you buy something with a good warranty. This treadmill has a lifetime warranty on the motor and frame which indicates it’s up to par. Also, keep in mind the length of the belt and if you intend to primarily run or you’re a taller person, a treadmill with a longer belt may be better suited for you. All in all, Horizon does make great treadmills and for the price this is a great budget treadmill.
