Jillian from the Biggest Loser tells all why she promotes the Nordic Track Incline Trainer X3:
Incline training is more efficient than other aerobic exercises. At just 25% incline, and 2 mph, you’ll burn 3 times the calories compared to walking on a level surface. When you increase the incline to 40% you’re burning 5 times the calories, just by walking. That’s why I use it with the contestents on TV. Incline training works, and it’s fast. And because all you have to do is walk, incline training is virtually zero impact. This means you’ll be able to work out longer and see the results faster.
The Nordic Track Inline Trainer X3 is fairly priced at $1,599.
DEAL ALERT: The Nordic Trainer X3 MSRP price is normally $2,499 but you can buy it exclusively through NordicTrack for $1,599!

When we first saw the Nordic Track Incline X3 Trainer we were excited to finally see if it was all it’s cracked up to be. Let us tell you first hand, if you want to burn some serious calories without having to run 10 miles this is the machine that can do it for you. Walking at 40% incline actually burns 5 X’s the amount of calories. The Nordic Track X3 Trainer is completely revolutionary and is changing the way treadmills can be used to burn calories.
When we pushed the X3 Incline Trainer all the way to 40% incline, the test runner was literally on the tips of his toes as he walked through his workout. It closely resembles someone taking a hike up a canyon trail and you could see in his body language that he was already starting to feel the burn!
We’ve talked about treadmills that offer the instant speed and incline controls. With a simple press of button you can go from jogging at 3.0 MPH to a full on sprint at 7.0 MPH. Well, the Incline Trainer X3 has added a new instant feature that I think you’ll love. When we saw the new instant calorie controls we were blown away. Again, with a press of a button you can choose a 200 calorie workout to 700 calorie workout. If you look closely you can see the controls in the screenshot below.

I saw an infomercial for this product just other day and almost didn’t believe that was possible. It’s hard to imagine a treadmill having that much incline. I guess that’s why it’s called the Incline Trainer right
After reading this review it seems like $1500 is not a bad price for what you get in a treadmill. Plus you can’t go wrong with NordicTrack right.
Has anyone actually purchased one of these? I am interested to see what others think.
Thanks for the article though, I am pretty convinced to buy!

I purcased one of these trainers on Saturday…still need to assemble it. When I gave it a test run at the store, my legs were burning within 2 minutes. I am sure it is going to be great. My husband (a reliability engineer) spent about 25 minutes examining the machine. He thinks it is made with a lot of plastic parts and was very “wobbly” – it didn’t bother me because, when I was actually ON it, I didn’t notice. Plus, I would think that with such a seious incline, you would have to have some give. I’ll keep you posted once it’s put together. Hopefully, it will be my magic weight-loss pill.

My wife and I just got one a week and a half ago and are thrilled with it. I have had 3 ACL surgeries on my left knee and can no longer run due to the damage to the knee. As you can imagine, controlling my weight is really hard with just diet and I haven’t been able to find too many cardio activities that I can do that doesn’t cause massive pain in my knee for a week or more after the work out.
I saw the X3 online and it got pretty excited about what it might be able to do for me. I can hike and backpack without too much pain so the incline workout seemed like it might work for me. I went to my local Sears and tried one and out and knew as soon as I got on it that this was what I have been searching for.
Bottom line is that I love this machine!! The workouts are very intense and challenge you. I also like the ability to manually develop my own work out. The deck uses a shock absorber on it so it cushions each step and I have actually been able to run for a few minutes on it which is something I can’t do for a long time. My knee has been a little sore but nothing like it gets when I try to use an elliptical trainer or swim. It gets a big thumbs up from me!

Lucas,
It looks like both Mike and Sara have really enjoyed the Nordic Track Incline Trainer. If you’re still considering one you might want to read through their reviews and maybe that will help you decide.
We have all tested out the X3 trainer here at TTR and we were amazed at how fast you legs start burning just from walking!
Good luck and we hope this review helps with your buying decision!

You’ll have to let us know what you think once you get the X3 Incline Trainer all setup! I bet you can’t wait to get going on it!
We know what you mean when you get on the treadmill and literally within minutes your legs are burning.
Thanks for commenting! I think your comment will help people who are deciding on whether to buy or not.

Mike,
Thanks for the comment. That was very insightful and I think it will help anyone who’s interested in the X3 trainer. It’s great to have some real honest insight about the new Nordic Track Incline Trainer. It’s great to hear that after 3 ACL surgeries you’ve found a new way to stay in shape!
One of our favorite things was also the custom workout builder. They thought of everything for this treadmill!
Thanks again for the great comment and best of luck with your new treadmill!

Yes, the incline trainer looks like it really gives you a great workout in a short amount of time. Does anyone know what the weight capacity is? I’m a big girl, and I would hate to pay that kin of money for it to break down in a few week from overworking it.

weight capacity is 300 lbs. I’m thinking about getting one too. I would like to know if it folds in any way for storage or more room after a workout.

I have a question.
Can this piece of equipment be moved from room to room easily? And or does it fold up? Thank you!

Can this incline handle everyday use with incline up or down for 2 or more persons using the treadmill? Is this incline quiet?

I just bought one for my wife & on Saturday I & assembled it yesterday. Seems like a sturdy machine but, no, it doesn’t fold. It’s easy to move, once assembled, but only on the same floor. This is a heavy machine. It took my friend & I every ounce of strength we had just to get the box from the car to my basement. It’s never coming back up!

I bought on in late august. Today I hit 106 miles and 30 hours of use (the unit collects this data, but it took me a week to figure out I had to take it out of demo mode for it to accumlate the data). It is worth the $$ if you are serious about using. I have gone from 239 to 225, though i have also begun to do some weight work on my upper body so the weight loss is not really a good measure. My waist measurement went from 49″ to 39″. The calories used feature is set for 185# so to get a more accurate estimate you need to divide your weight by 185 and then multiply the program calories by the result. It seems to be very sturdy and smooth at 20% incline and 3.5 mph. The incline % is slightly low when compared to an engineering web site designed to compute % incline and decline using distance and vertical ft change. I would endorse this unit with the caveat that we still need to use it for it to be effective.

I have a question:
Will any of you share your success stories as to how much weight you lost, in what amount of time and which exercise did you do on the treadmill?
I have read some nightmare stories about the treadmill, but have wondered for the ones that had great success with this treadmill, did you have professional assemble it or not?
I am seriously thinking about purchasing the Incline Trainer X3… I tried it out and have to agree that in about 2 min I started sweating and my legs were burning. I couldn’t believe how fast I felt the burn, and was sold…now I am saving the money…
I would greatly appreciate anyone’s review(s)…

Hi Patrick,
My son and I brought it home and assembled it ourselves in a little over an hour. The hardest part was lugging the base upstairs to the room I wanted to set it up in. The setup is pretty simple, but will take two people.
Since the end of August I have lost about 20#, but I have also been doing some weight training, so the fat loss may be more than 20# would indicate.
I do a pretty free program designed to be intense enough to burn 1100 calories per hour. I just finished and am cooling down. Today I did 5 min@40% @ 2mph the went to 12 % and 4MPH. I was listening to my Ipod and every time the song changed I increased or decreased the incline by 4% between 12 and 28%. I then finsied as I started with 5 min @40%, 2MPH. The total time was 60 min.
I am planning on hiking the Grand Canyon next spring, so I hope the incline trainer will get me in shape. Hope this helps you.

i have a bad back and i was wondering if this would bother my back any one
November 7th, 2009 at 2:28 pm
Has anyone experienced increased back pain after using this? I have developed lower back pain but a better shape…am I just developing my core?
November 14th, 2009 at 12:16 am
Tom, thanks for the info. I just purchased the Incline Trainer X3 and it’s going to be delivered next wk, and I have to admit that I can’t wait. I have gained 60-70 lbs as of a month ago (who knows how much now), and because of my past injuries it was almost impossible to exercise at all… I have to admit that I have read a lot of reviews from people who are also injured that I am hopeful that this was what the doctor ordered. So I rushed to a store that sells it, and after walking on it at 40% incline for 2 min., my legs were burning and I started sweating. I was hooked…especially that I will have Jillian Michaels training me per say. Congrats for losing 20 lbs that’s fantastic!
For people who are injured, find it at a local store and give it a try… You can always start out slow, but just remember that you don’t have to run on this to feel the affects. I shopped around and found a place that had better warranties etc than the manufacturer. I shopped around until I found it for a good price, and their warranty.

I have occasional lower back pain also, but the trainer helps. Before I start I stretch and warm up my lower back. I would suggest that you check with a trainer or doctor to make sure it is OK and get some excersizes to stretch and strengthen the areas that have pain. If the pain doesn’t go away after you stop or it isn’t releived with a single ibuprofen, please see your doctor. Better safde than sorry.

I just tried one of these out at Sports Authority. It is an awesome machine! I’m 6′6″ 280. I hike and mountain climb frequently. This thing gets you cookin off the calories right away. Your warmup is about 10 seconds… I wanted to try it with a backpack on heh. Wish I could afford one.
